Hi there! Today, I am guest-posting on Heather’s blog! Here is the beginning of the post:
My favorite chapter in the Bible is Proverbs 16. Even though the purpose of Proverbs is to share wisdom (rather than God’s promises), it is still full of truth and hope for our lives.
I especially cling to these verses from chapter 16: The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. All the ways of a man are clean in his own sight, but the Lord weighs the motives. Commit your works to the Lord and your plans will be established….When a man’s ways are pleasing to the Lord, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. Better is a little with righteousness than great income with injustice. The mind of man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps…The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord. (Proverbs 16:1-3, 7-9, & 33 ESV)
Solomon is discussing many different things in these verses, but they all revolve around two themes: God’s authority and His direction.
God’s authority is forever the ultimate authority. No one can thwart His reign or His plans…but we often try.
