Well, my dream finally came true this year. In July, I signed my first book contract. I’m a published author now. Yet this season of life actually feels unexpectedly anticlimactic.
I’m Thankful for You
My blog is fueled by encouraging words like Mary’s. In fact, my writing in general is fueled by encouraging words like Mary’s. Without supportive family members, friends, and acquaintances, I wouldn’t be writing anymore. I probably would’ve given up on writing a long time ago. I don’t have a book proposal ready (or even started, ahem). But I’m here—and "here" is a good place to be because this is where God has brought me. He's the One who helped me say “yes” to this journey.
The Real Reason I Write
As I continued to stare at a completely blank page, I couldn’t help but wonder why I even bothered trying to write: Why do I keep writing? Why do I keep blogging? Where is all of this headed?
3 Things Disappointment Taught Me About Achieving My Dreams
And then I began to realize the truth: I wasn't trusting God's plan. I wanted to receive a book contract now. I wanted to be a successful author now. I wanted my dreams to come true now. But that clearly wasn’t God's will for me. Even though I struggled to accept His will, He graciously used my disappointment to teach me three important things about my dreams—and I'll share them with you here.
