5 More Songs to Listen to This Thanksgiving

You might remember that I shared five song recommendations near Thanksgiving last year. Although there are lots of songs I could’ve included in that post, I opted to include just five. But I actually have five more song recommendations for you in this post, if you want to add them to your Thanksgiving playlist:

1. “Counting My Blessings” by Seph Schlueter

This song is very fitting for Thanksgiving because—as the title suggests—it’s about counting our blessings. In a way, it’s a reminder to thank God for the ways He’s worked in our lives. I like that it’s inspirational but not preachy. I think you’ll enjoy it!

2. “Creator” by Phil Wickham

Though this isn’t one of Phil Wickham’s most popular songs, it’s definitely worth listening to this Thanksgiving. The lyrics and music are contemplative and worshipful. While it focuses on God’s creation and His holiness, it also weaves in His merciful redemption.

3. “Godsend” by Riley Clemmons

Although I wouldn’t describe this song as light and fun, it’s definitely rich and reflective. Essentially, it’s about hard things that God places in the lives of His children to ultimately point them to Him. If you’re in a season of loss or grief, I’m confident you’ll find comfort from this song.

4. “Build My Life” by Pat Barrett

I know this song is several years old, but I appreciate it now more than I did when it was released. While it’s not about Thanksgiving specifically, it’s a timely reminder for us to focus on the Lord on this holiday—and every day of the year. If you listen to this song, make sure to listen to the whole thing because the way it builds (yes, pun intended) through the bridge is powerful.

5. “What an Awesome God” by Phil Wickham

I realize I already included one of Phil Wickham’s songs on this list, but I just had to include another. Technically, it’s a remake of Rich Mullins’ song “Awesome God”—but it’s actually a good remake. (Unfortunately, a lot of remakes aren’t.) If you haven’t already heard this catchy new song, now is the time!

Final Thoughts

Even if you’re facing a hardship this Thanksgiving, you can have peace in the presence of God. I hope these five songs refresh you in your faith and inspire you to praise Him for what He’s done in your life. Have a happy Thanksgiving!

Be glad in the Lord, you righteous ones, and give thanks to His holy name. (Psalm 97:12 NASB1995)
