Where God's Word Meets Our Mess
Part of this poem comes from a song that I wrote with my younger sister years ago. I've added to it and changed some of the words, but they're based on the biblical accounts of Christ's death. I hope that this poem is as an encouraging reminder to you that Christ died for us—and for everyone involved in His crucifixion—not because we deserved it but because He loves us with an immeasurable, everlasting love.
I realize that Valentine’s Day is over, but that doesn’t mean that our feelings of loneliness are gone. If you’re single, you may be especially depressed this time of year. The good news is that you don’t have to be depressed. Even if you’re still single, you’re not alone. In fact, you’re loved immeasurably by Christ.
On the other hand, even though singleness is very common for young adults, that doesn’t make singleness easy. In fact, it can be a very worry-filled season of life. Perhaps you can relate to at least one of the three big fears singles have.
However, without more warning, the pastor began a list of five ways that we could put his message into practice. I wrote them all down, acting like I would (of course) implement them in my own life. But I knew that I wouldn’t. In fact, I'd probably never even look at them again.
I hope that this true story inspires, encourages, and strengthens you during this Christmas season. May you see His greatness this Christmas. Merry Christmas!
As I wrote about a couple weeks ago, Christmas used to feel so exhilarating. When I was younger, it was full of wonder and excitement. I laid in bed on Christmas Eve as I wondered if I heard Santa’s sleigh on our roof. I poured my heart into decorating the Christmas tree with tons of ornaments and hand-woven snowflakes that my grandmother had made. I picked out special gifts for my parents, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Now, however, I spend a lot of the Christmas season in a melancholic state.
It’s crazy to think that Christmas is almost here. This is probably a very busy time for you because you have to get ready for Christmas, but I hope that you find the time to read this post and evaluate if you have any of these three fears that are common to experience at Christmas.
Usually, Thanksgiving is the time of year when we share what we're thankful for. But in this post, I decided to do something different. I'm going to discuss three things that I'm not thankful for (plus offer some encouragement with you if you, too, aren't thankful for them).
But there's more to Halloween than gooey candy and cute costumes. There's also more to Halloween than evil witches and creepy goblins. This holiday requires us to determine—and discuss—our convictions.
