Where God's Word Meets Our Mess
I usually don’t introduce my posts with Bible verses. However, I read this passage from John 5 recently, and it really got my attention. Even though I think Jesus was directing these words at nonbelievers, verse 45 in particular hit my heart with a heavy thud and convicted me of several serious sins in my life.
That’s why we as young adults need to hear the truth from our ministry leaders during this time. We can’t change our circumstances, but we can change our perspective. Thankfully, you can help us do that. There are a few things we would appreciate you telling us.
Hi, friends! I realize that today is Sunday (and that I never post on Sundays). But this post is a little different from what I usually post. This post is a challenge for all of us—including myself!
I recently got an email that my college’s on-campus classes will be switched to online classes for the remainder of the semester. Taking online classes means goodbye dorm room. Goodbye cafeteria. Goodbye professors. Goodbye tutoring job. And goodbye friends.
After recognizing my overdependence on this friend, I then realized something scary. I had also developed an overdependence on my crush, too. He wasn’t even my boyfriend. In fact, he had only spoken to me one time.
These people ran away from God. Maybe they’ve even confessed their sins, but their lives will never be the same because of their sinful choices. Every day, you think about their decisions and how their decisions have impacted you. And you wallow in your disappointment and pain. What else can you do?
In case you haven’t figured it out yet, I am Grace in this story. However, unlike my name, I'm often lacking in grace for myself and for others.
But believers are not going to grow in their faith by talking about the weather, sports, or politics. On the contrary, believers are going to grow in their faith by sharing their current addictions, temptations, and sins. I believe there are three main reasons why we should be transparent about our struggles.
I have a really bad habit of thinking these terrible, mean thoughts. I have a thought life that would make your skin crawl. Why are my thoughts about others so ugly and dirty?
