Setting Myself up for Failure

Yesterday, I was sitting in my church pew, waiting for the service to start. I had the perfect opportunity to go say hi to a new girl at my church who recently became a Christian. My thought process went something like this: “What will I say to her? I have nothing important to talk about. I really don’t feel like walking two rows up to say hi to her. Ugh.” So I made things complicated for myself. I made a deal with God.

Outside of Your Own Little World

Conflict happens. But let’s not start pointless squabbles about things that don’t truly matter. Let’s focus on the fact that we as Christians need to give God glory in everything—even with our opinions.

…And Returning to the Endless Mess

With everything in life, there needs to be a balance; and work is no exception. There’s a balance between not having enough rest and having too much. We can get very addicted to rest. And this addiction to rest is sometimes called "laziness."

Chugging…and Losing My Steam

We all have a “thorn in the flesh,” even the ones who seem the strongest. (They just hide it well.) We suffer so that God’s great power can be magnified to the world. He can still use us, even in suffering, pain, and weariness. He can still use us even when we are tormented by “a messenger of Satan” (whether it be a lie, a doubt, or a fear). He can use you.

Making Mountains (Part 2)

This wild adventure called life is full of bumps in the road…and sometimes we have to ride right over them. But your life isn’t over when you hit a bump or two. There are better days ahead. Today may seem cloudy, but it all depends on how you look at it.

Making Mountains (Part 1)

If you have a perfect plan in mind, there’s always the risk of it falling apart. Sometimes this happens because our world is fallen, and bad things just happen. But, sometimes, we’re the ones who cause our plans to get ruined…and stay ruined.
