In 2019, I published a post called "Why Daydreaming May Be More Dangerous Than You Think." The post is about how daydreaming often precedes lust. It’s actually been one of the most popular posts on TTT, so I decided to write this post about flirting—because flirting often precedes daydreaming, which often precedes lust. To show you what I mean, I included an embarrassing story from my own life. You're in for a treat.
But then reality set in, and my daydream came to a halt. Suddenly, the fantasy was over. Yet another perfect—and fictitious—scenario was done.
In Christian culture, it seems like everyone advocates the practice of writing letters to our future husbands. I get it—it seems like a harmless way to connect the souls of two people who haven’t met yet. And what girl doesn't love to daydream about Prince Charming? But unfortunately, that may be what your letters to your future husband become—daydream sessions.
I have two definitions for love. The first one states, “Love is zealously, selflessly, and unconditionally desiring and pursuing someone’s best.” This is my stated belief. The definition that I actually believe about love is this: a happy feeling that's always wrong and never appropriate. The best that can come from it is to pray that God will eventually deliver you from all desires and circumstances associated with it. This results in the best possible outcome in the situation: relief from the "not right."
But then reality set in, and my daydream came to a halt. Suddenly, the fantasy was over. Instead of being in the company of an attractive (and flirty, ahem) young man, I was alone.
