Think about the "worst" sins that you’ve committed and how you tried to handle them. Did you obsess about them? Did you worry about overcoming them? Did you keep giving into temptation? Did you deal with them in ways that hurt your relationships with God and others? Unfortunately, when we give in to sin, we usually proceed in a variety of unhealthy ways.
If Everything I Knew Disappeared
Today's post includes a poem about our struggle to let go of (or even simply loosen our grip on) the things in this life that we value too highly. The truth is that this life is temporary—so everything in it that you treasure could disappear in an instant. Except for Jesus. He isn't temporary like everything else we know. And He alone remains when nothing else does. So instead of clinging to temporary treasures, cling to the One who always was, is and will be.
The Christian Blahs
You may be spiritually dry, but you aren’t spiritually dead, thanks to Christ’s death and resurrection. As a Christian, you can still feel distracted and far from God and spiritually dry.
Remembering the Tough Times
Every experience happens to Christians for a reason. Maybe you’ve experienced a trial to help someone else get through it.
Pies and Promises
What if you don’t feel thankful? What if you feel like you’re losing a spiritual battle right now…or losing a battle at work, with your spouse, with your health, with your kids, with school, with church, or with your sanity? I’m simply writing this post to remind you that you always have something to be thankful for.
Short and Sweet
I know I haven’t written a post for over a week. I’ve been experiencing something very painful called writer’s block. I haven’t been in my writer’s groove for a while. What do I write about?
Watching Fireworks
Kids just love fireworks. They love the noise and the color and the sparkle. It draws them in. They can stare at fireworks in amazement. If only we could be in such awe of our Savior.
Setting Myself Up for Failure
Yesterday, I was sitting in my church pew, waiting for the service to start. I had the perfect opportunity to go say hi to a new girl at my church who recently became a Christian. My thought process went something like this: “What will I say to her? I have nothing important to talk about. I really don’t feel like walking two rows up to say hi to her. Ugh.” So I made things complicated for myself. I made a deal with God.
Forgetting the Good and Perfect Gifts
He’s given you so many good gifts. Choose ten (of the million He gives) every day and thank Him for them. Things might start looking a little brighter.
