Dear College Senior

May is approaching so quickly, isn’t it? The day when you wear your cap and gown, reach for your diploma, and finally enter adulthood will indeed be bittersweet. Everyone tells you that college is the best time of your life and that post-college will be the worst time of your life. Perhaps the best time of your life will officially be over in approximately three months. So you panic.

Dear Single Girl

Don’t worry—I’m not going to tell you that you’re loved or wanted or valuable whether you have a boyfriend or not. You’ve heard those things a hundred times and already know that those things are true. Instead, I’m going to tell you that it's okay to cry, vent, and even scream if you need to. But I also want you to exhale.

To the College Student Whose Life Has Been Impacted by COVID-19

It's likely that the past several weeks have been stressful for you. Maybe you feel like a heavy burden is weighing down your heart and your mind. Maybe you feel like a dark cloud is looming over your head or your home. Maybe you feel like a huge question mark is staring you in the face because the future is so unknown. Thank you, COVID-19.

Dear College Freshman

My freshman year wasn't long ago, and I can relate to your concerns about starting college. However, I believe it’s possible to worry less about starting college if you don’t put so much pressure on yourself.

Dear Homeschooler

Honestly, I enjoyed being homeschooled. I liked hanging out with my family, working at my own pace, and being taught by my mom. I enjoyed going to homeschool groups, meeting other homeschoolers, and staying in touch with them. But maybe you don’t enjoy being homeschooled like I did.

Dear Disney, Dreams Don’t Always Come True

I want to earn a degree in marketing. I want to become a published author within five years after I graduate from college. I want to write for Christian magazines or websites. I want to get married by the age of 25 and have kids by the age of 30. I want to maintain a beautiful home that’s close to my parents. I want to have three kids and maybe even a pet. I want to work from home while I take care of my husband and kids. But truth be told, my expectations are probably too high—and I blame you for that.
