Where God's Word Meets Our Mess
As countercultural as this may sound, busyness isn't a virtue. That's probably not the message that you'll get from paying attention to social media, Hollywood, or maybe even your family members and friends. But that's the message that you'll get from reading Scripture. So before you start applauding yourself for having such a busy life, consider slowing down and taking time to rest instead.
Still, it took me two months—two very long months—to find a job after graduating from college. I was definitely giving up hope, but I kept applying for positions and having interviews and receiving autogenerated rejection emails. I felt so behind. Was my feeling of "behind-ness" normal?
Loneliness is rampant in our culture, and the COVID-19 pandemic only made it worse. I've personally experienced loneliness at different times in my life, and it's really rough. However, thankfully, we aren't helpless regarding loneliness. If you're experiencing loneliness, ask yourself the following questions to see what you can do to lessen it.
Before you roll your eyes and call me old-fashioned for saying that shacking up is sinful, know that I write these words because I want the best for you. I don’t want you to believe Satan’s lies any longer. I want you to know the hard-but-freeing truth. Satan really doesn’t want you to read this, so I challenge you to go for it.
For the 4th of July, I normally post something about freedom because this holiday is all about freedom. However, today's post includes a special interview with my friend, Kennedy Wilhite. She’s getting married on the 4th of July! I’ve enjoyed getting to know her, and I know you’ll enjoy getting to know her too.
And you promised her that you would. So you did. You felt your grief, stopped avoiding your frustration, sat in your discomfort, and faced your pain. But you didn’t feel any better. College was a crazy season of life, and I can’t believe that it’s over now. Even though I won’t miss the research papers or class presentations, I’ll definitely miss the feeling of community. As a recent grad, I feel like there are so many things that I could tell you about college—not because I know it all but because I made so many mistakes during college that I don’t want you to make! I asked some of my recently graduated friends to share their thoughts as recent college grads, and these are the things that they wanted you to know.
At first, I wasn’t super impressed with The Chosen. I thought that the episodes ended really well; they just seemed long and drawn out up until the ending. But I'm so glad that I kept watching it.
