Where God's Word Meets Our Mess
Friends, God doesn't just see you at your highest moments; He sees you at your lowest moments, too. I encourage you to read Psalm 69 in its entirety, but I included part of it at the end of this poem. Feel God's peace as you read it and rest in His presence.
So when we have to make a morally neutral decision (i.e., a decision that's neither moral nor immoral), we panic. I believe that in wanting to follow God’s will for our lives, we’ve gone from one extreme to the other—not caring what God thinks about our decisions to being terrified that God will despise the decisions that we make. What if there’s a balance between both of those extremes?
These are questions that the typical single girl with a high sex drive asks herself about sex. I’m not judging you if you’ve asked yourself these—and lots more—questions about sex. But as single girls with a high sex drive, what can we do while we wait to get married and have sex? Here are a couple simple things.
When you get stuck in a works-based mindset, open up your Bible and see what God says about grace. It's true that the Bible contains God's commands, but it's not true that you have to keep all of those commands to become (or stay) saved. Read the book of Romans if you don't believe me. You'll discover that He was, is, and will be better than we ever could be.
Today wasn’t hard because your best friend’s fiancé is a loser. In fact, the opposite is true. He loves Jesus, he has an amazing job, and he’s super tan. Nor was today hard because your best friend’s going to move across the country to live with her fiancé after they tie the knot. In fact, the opposite is true—they’re going to live in the area and make a cute little family here. The real reason that today was hard was because—as selfish as you know it sounds—your forehead got stamped with the bolded black word “alone.”
