Where God's Word Meets Our Mess
Since coming to college, I’ve become acquainted with eating in the cafeteria, having six different teachers each semester, and taking very stressful tests called “finals." But I realize that the non-homeschool world can feel very different than the homeschool world. I wanted to share the three main fears of homeschoolers in this post so that we can recognize—and own up to—our "homeschool-ness," so here they are.
What if something awful had happened to her? What if someone in her family had died? What if she been in a car accident or gotten sick? What if she had moved away? Where was she, and why didn’t she tell me where she was?
Sure, I’ll admit that I’m aware of my singleness most of the time. I’m not married, dating, or even considering starting a romantic relationship. To be honest, even if a great guy was interested in me, I wouldn’t be ready to start dating. I’m simply not at that place yet.
That's why we need to be careful about what we choose to look at and listen to. Maybe we’re not affected by every word we hear and every image we see. But when we continually fill our minds with immoral things, they begin to corrupt the way we live. Through the renewal of our minds, however, God can transform us and help us live like Jesus.

One of the many incredible aspects of God’s grace is that it doesn’t go away once we are saved. He doesn’t show us His grace for salvation alone. There is an endless supply of it! That's what this poem is about.
As I write this post, I'm preparing to go back to college. I had a lovely break of doing absolutely no homework. I spent time with my family, attended my church, and hung out with my friends. I cooked meals in my own kitchen, showered in my own shower, and slept in my own bed. I enjoyed being home. But now I must return to my home away from home—the far-away land called "College." And I’m just not ready to go back there.
However, I'd rather ask this question: Did you keep your New Year’s resolutions from 2017? What about from 2016? What about from the past five years?
So much preparation was needed for Christmas, and now it's over. But honestly, the preparation wasn’t the hard part. The gift-buying, cookie-baking, tree-decorating, and light-stringing weren't difficult compared to this.
