I’m Thankful for You

My blog is fueled by encouraging words like Mary’s. In fact, my writing in general is fueled by encouraging words like Mary’s. Without supportive family members, friends, and acquaintances, I wouldn’t be writing anymore. I probably would’ve given up on writing a long time ago. I’m a firm believer that encouragement is three very important things.

Sneak Peek of Real Recovery

Today’s post is super simple but super exciting! It’s an excerpt from my new book Real Recovery: What Eating Disorder Recovery Actually Looks Like. While this book is mainly for young women who are recovering from eating disorders, it's also for pre-recovery and post-recovery young women—and for their family members, friends, ministry leaders, counselors, and other supporters. I hope you enjoy reading this excerpt from the Introduction of Real Recovery, which will release on February 22, 2022. (Click here to sign up for the pre-order list!)

Is It Wrong to Want an Attractive Guy?

So why was I so obsessed about a beautiful face? Was there more to him than his good looks? I wanted there to be more, but I didn’t know how deep his character was. I should’ve been paying attention to his character first and foremost, but it was really his appearance that attracted me to him.

3 Ways to Handle the Wait Without Losing Your Faith

This post was written by author, speaker, and teacher Wendy Pope, who has written multiple books for women. When I read her book Wait and See: Finding Peace in God's Pauses and Plans, I related to the stories she shared about seasons of waiting (especially her season of waiting to become an author). In this post, she provides three practical ways to wait with trust and hope in the Lord.

Sinking

Friends, God doesn't just see you at your highest moments; He sees you at your lowest moments, too. I encourage you to read Psalm 69 in its entirety, but I included part of it at the end of this poem. Feel God's peace as you read it and rest in His presence.

To the Girl Who Wants to Know God’s Will for Her Life

So when we have to make a morally neutral decision (i.e., a decision that's neither moral nor immoral), we panic. I believe that in wanting to follow God’s will for our lives, we’ve gone from one extreme to the other—not caring what God thinks about our decisions to being terrified that God will despise the decisions that we make. What if there’s a balance between both of those extremes?

2 Reminders for the Single Girl with a High Sex Drive

These are questions that the typical single girl with a high sex drive asks herself about sex. I’m not judging you if you’ve asked yourself these—and lots more—questions about sex. But as single girls with a high sex drive, what can we do while we wait to get married and have sex? Here are a couple simple things.

You Are Better

When you get stuck in a works-based mindset, open up your Bible and see what God says about grace. It's true that the Bible contains God's commands, but it's not true that you have to keep all of those commands to become (or stay) saved. Read the book of Romans if you don't believe me. You'll discover that He was, is, and will be better than we ever could be.
