Jesus gave us victory. We get to experience the blessings of His resurrection and His conquering of sin. If He hadn’t conquered sin, we wouldn’t be able to do so today. But because He has the victory over sin and death, death doesn’t have the same sting.
Being Set Free
This world will not be free until it has the right worldview. And even though people are hard to dissuade, it is our job nonetheless to tell them the truth. Only then will they be free.
Burnout Blues
The church is not a one-man show, with Super Man (or Super Woman) stepping in to meet all the church’s needs. Because Super Man will get tired and frustrated and cranky very, very fast. You do play a part in the body of Christ—but that’s all it should be. One part. Not all the parts.
Weary and Wondering
We can’t burn out because there’s more to do. The work never ends. This may sound depressing, but it’s truly joyous. There are more people to save, and we have the opportunity to serve them in love and show them what it means to be a Christian.
Glimmering Snow
God gave you a beautiful new heart when you accepted His offer of salvation. He cleansed you from sin. And now you shine like snow.
Getting Outside of Ourselves
I'm not nearly as friendly or kind or loving as I should be. I need to step out and stop thinking about myself for more than 30 seconds each day. Because someone out there is hurting, and someone out there is thinking about committing suicide or inflicting pain upon themselves.
Just Doing It
Get rid of the trash in your life that’s toppling over and spilling out and hurting your relationship with God. It’s not complicated. It’s very simple.
The Unchanging Truth of Christmas
The truth is that Christmas is still Christmas, and we still need to celebrate for the right reasons. That fact has never changed. Jesus came to earth as a baby to save us from our sins. Nothing has changed there. The manger was uncomfortable. The stable was lonely. The mother was afraid. The father was unsure. But Jesus was here. He was finally here. And He brought peace. He gave us Christmas.
