But, whether we like it or not, those things stick with us. Dirty words and indecent images seem to stay in our minds forever. Sometimes, they play over and over—and we can’t seem to stop them.
That is why we must be very careful when we choose what to look at and listen to. Maybe we’re not affected by every word we hear and every picture we see, but when we continually fill our minds with those immoral things, they start to corrupt the way we speak and act.
But God calls us to be changed by the restoring of our minds.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect(Romans 12:2 NASB).
How can we expect to have renewal of our minds with vulgar language from music, sexual scenes from movies, and inappropriate images from social media constantly running through our minds?
We can’t.
So is there a way we can have renewal? How can our minds be refreshed and restored?

That’s is a wonderful promise to lean on, Brittania. Thanks for sharing honestly! You’re so right. 1 Corinthians 12:9-10 is a great passage for remembering His strength and grace in our weakness. 🙂

I tried and tried and tried and tried to ”get over” a certain handful of sinful songs…they were a bit sensual. I didn’t and couldn’t let them go. I asked Jesus to give me the grace, and to help change me….and it works EVERY TIME. There is true strength found when you let Jesus be strong, because He is…and realize you are too weak to try on your own. . .because you are. Its just a reality check 🙂

That definitely summarizes the issue, Brittania! When we want to follow Christ, we need Him to help us weed out the sin in our lives.

I know how to ”kiss” them goodbye. You focus on Jesus and it all fades away.
