Where God's Word Meets Our Mess
Later this week, TTT will turn eight years old. Though each blogiversary post I've written has been a bit different, they normally have a common theme: my writing dreams (i.e., how I hope to achieve them, what God is teaching me through them, etc.). This blogiversary post celebrating eight years of TTT posts follows that theme.

I recently left my job as the Proposal Coordinator of an IT consulting company to become a writer/editor of reports for donors at a Christian nonprofit organization. This is the kind of job I’ve wanted for a long time. Before I was even contacted by the organization about setting up an initial interview, I'd been praying for God to provide a position at a Christian company—specifically doing something I enjoy. When I was offered the position at the nonprofit, I knew it was an answer to prayer. However, I don't think my non-Christian coworkers and supervisors at the IT consulting company truly understood why I was leaving.

Recently, I’ve been reminded how much disappointment stings. Unfortunately, no matter how hard I try, I can’t prevent disappointments from happening. However, the lessons that I’ve been learning through this recent disappointment in my life will hopefully encourage you as you navigate disappointments in your own life. Here are a few things to remember when life disappoints you.
But that’s not what this post is about, friends. After all, you can find tons of resources about doing all the things that will potentially lead you to a book deal. But if you want to have a solid foundation for your writing as you embark on this exciting journey, I have a few other suggestions for you.
I used to doubt that God was capable of changing my desires. I figured that my desires were essentially set in stone and that they honestly couldn't be transformed. I do believe that some desires are God-given and aren’t mean to go away. But I've recently started to see God change my desires in unexpected ways.
When I heard about Danny’s and Nina’s promotions, I started to drown in disappointment and embarrassment: Why did they promoted instead of me? Everyone in this company is probably wondering the same thing. Am I not doing enough? Am I doing something wrong?
From movie reviews to poems to personal reflections, I started writing blog posts to encourage people in their relationships with God. Eventually, I began focusing specifically on reaching young women by sharing my struggles and relevant Bible verses. All along, I’ve wanted to bring readers to the place where God's Word meets their messes—as His Word always meets mine.
