Thanking Our Maker

You’ve probably heard the saying, “Too much of a good thing is wonderful.”

How terribly wrong.

For example, when you eat half a big bag of white cheddar popcorn in one sitting (not that I’ve ever done such a thing), you never want white cheddar popcorn again.

Maybe you’ve had a similar experience with raspberries, queso, or protein bars. (Or is it just me?)

You don’t want to eat that thing for a very long time.

Too much of a good thing can cause you to take that thing for granted.

If it was sunny every single day, we wouldn’t really enjoy the bright, cheerful weather.

If I was inspired to write every time I sat down at my computer, I wouldn’t enjoy the random bursts of inspiration I feel.

If I didn’t have to pay for gas in my car, I wouldn’t appreciate it when my parents buy me gas.

Do you want to take everything for granted? Do you want to have everything lose its value? Do you want to ignore the everyday miracles God graciously gives to us?

May it never be.

May we never take for granted the gifts of God.

Let us never overlook the shining pink sunsets, the sparkling blue ocean, the crisp, colorful leaves, or the baby blue sky sprinkled with clouds.

Let us never forget, overlook, or ignore.

Sadly, people (even Christians) are very ignorant of all God does for us. We claim coincidences and accidents and chance. How dare us.

He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. (Colossians 1:17 NASB)

There is no room for coincidences here. There’s no room for cosmic mistakes or luck or fate.

Think of every tiny good thing as a blessing from God, and thank Him for it.

Pay attention to the pink sunsets and colorful leaves and roaring ocean. Don’t overlook them or their Maker. Enjoy them and thank Him for such lovely creations.
